Service Description

Spend the day learning the fundamentals of traditional leatherworking techniques in a small group workshop. During the class you will make either a handmade leather belt or a traditional rifle sling using proper hand tools and traditional methods. You will learn the core techniques used in leathercraft including measuring and cutting straps, marking and punching stitch holes, traditional saddle stitching, edge finishing, and fitting buckles and hardware. By the end of the workshop you will leave with a finished item made entirely by your own hands. Workshop details: • Location: Crossover School Hall, Gippsland • Time: 9:00am – 3:30pm • Maximum of eight students • All tools and materials provided • No experience required This workshop is designed for beginners and anyone interested in learning traditional leatherworking skills in a relaxed and friendly environment. Things to bring: Comfortable clothing suitable for workshop activities. Pen and paper to take notes. Water bottle. Lunch (fridge and kitchen available), or you can buy lunch ten minutes away in Neerim South. Coffee and tea will be provided.
