Learn the fundamentals of traditional leatherwork and make your own belt or rifle sling in a small hands-on workshop near Warragul, Gippsland.

Only eight places are available per workshop, so bookings are limited.

Traditional leathercraft is a rewarding skill that allows you to create beautiful and practical items that can last a lifetime.

In these small group workshops I’ll teach the fundamentals of traditional leatherworking techniques. Over the course of the day you’ll make either a leather belt or a rifle sling using proper hand tools and traditional methods.

No previous experience is required, and all tools and materials are provided.

During the workshop you will make either:

• A handmade leather belt
or
• A traditional rifle sling

You’ll leave with a finished item made entirely by your own hands.

Students will learn:

• Measuring and cutting leather straps
• Marking and punching stitch holes
• Traditional saddle stitching by hand
• Edge finishing and burnishing
• Fitting buckles and hardware
• Basic leather finishing techniques

These skills form the foundation of traditional leathercraft and can be used for many other leather projects.

This workshop is suited to:

• Complete beginners
• Hunters and shooters
• Makers and craftspeople
• Anyone interested in learning traditional hand skills
