Traditional Leathercraft Workshops
Learn the fundamentals of traditional leatherwork and make your own belt or rifle sling in a small hands-on workshop near Warragul, Gippsland.

Traditional leathercraft is a rewarding skill that allows you to create beautiful and practical items that can last a lifetime.
In these small group workshops I’ll teach the fundamentals of traditional leatherworking techniques. Over the course of the day you’ll make either a leather belt or a rifle sling using proper hand tools and traditional methods.
No previous experience is required, and all tools and materials are provided.
During the workshop you will make either:
• A handmade leather belt
or
• A traditional rifle sling
You’ll leave with a finished item made entirely by your own hands.
Students will learn:
• Measuring and cutting leather straps
• Marking and punching stitch holes
• Traditional saddle stitching by hand
• Edge finishing and burnishing
• Fitting buckles and hardware
• Basic leather finishing techniques
These skills form the foundation of traditional leathercraft and can be used for many other leather projects.
This workshop is suited to:
• Complete beginners
• Hunters and shooters
• Makers and craftspeople
• Anyone interested in learning traditional hand skills
No prior leatherworking experience is required.
Workshop details:
• Location: Crossover School Hall, Gippsland
• Class size: Maximum 8 students
• Duration: Full day workshop 9am-3.30pm.
• All tools and materials provided
• No experience required
Small class sizes ensure everyone gets plenty of individual guidance.

Workshop fee:
$285 per person
Includes all materials and use of tools.
Optional starter tool kits and leather will also be available for students who wish to continue leatherworking at home.

Private Lessons
For those wanting more personalised instruction, I also offer one-on-one leathercraft lessons in my workshop in Warragul.
Private lessons are ideal if you want to focus on a specific skill or project and receive individual guidance throughout the process. We also have the full array of workshop tools at our disposal.
Pricing:
In-person lessons — $100 AUD per hour
Includes use of tools, materials (within reason), and tea/coffee and lunch.
Lessons can be tailored to your experience level and interests. Some students arrive with a specific project in mind, while others bring a list of questions or techniques they’d like to work through.
Sessions can run for up to eight hours in a day, with a maximum of two consecutive days.
