Service Description

Do you want to move beyond what you can learn from YouTube videos and skip the years of trial and error to figure out the little time saving tips and tricks, and make your work stand out from the crowd? In this course, students will be shown how to make a luxurious card wallet from start to finish, but with the end result a much more refined set of skills than the introductory course. The fundamentals of leatherwork such as stitching, cutting and gluing will all be reinforced, but more complex skills will be taught to push the limits of what the student is capable of in the future. Students can choose to do a single day or two-day lesson, with the two-day lesson introducing gussets and decorative padding, making a more three-dimensional wallet. The one-day course will be for students looking to really step up their wallet making skills, and the two-day course will be teaching some skills that will not only step up your wallet skills, but start the transition into bag making. Hand skiving will be a major focus of this course, as it is an essential skill for making higher end items. We will do tapered skives, step skives and a combination of step and taper. Small items such as card wallets are great candidates for lessons because they are packed with detail on a small scale, and students will very likely finish the project in the given time. Students will be given patterns to take home to practice what they have learnt.
